How to Clean Printer Cartridges Properly?

Printer cartridges are one of the key factors in print quality; however, after prolonged use, cartridges may accumulate dust, dirt or dried ink, affecting print results. Therefore, regular cleaning of printer cartridges is an important step to maintain print quality and extend cartridge life.

Here are some simple but effective ways to clean printer cartridges:

1. Preparation: First, make sure the printer is unplugged and wait for a while to let the cartridge cool down. Prepare some clean soft cloths, cotton swabs, paper towels and cleaning solution.

2. External cleaning: Use a clean soft cloth to gently wipe the cartridge casing to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using cleaners containing alcohol or acidic ingredients to avoid damaging the cartridge surface.

3. Printhead cleaning: Remove the cartridge and check if there is dried ink or blockage in the cartridge printhead. If there is, you can try the following methods for cleaning:

   a. Place some tissues thick enough under the printhead track and place the carriage unit over center of the tissues.

   b. Inhale 10ml cleaning solution into the syringe.

  c. Slowly inject the cleaning solution into the printerhead. Leave the liquid inside for 1 hour to dissolve the blockage.

  d. Take out the tissues and clean the residual cleaning solution inside.Wait for it to dry naturally. Make sure the cartridge slot is completely dry before installing the cartridge.

4. Print a test page: After completing the cleaning, you can print a test page to check if the print quality has improved. If the problem persists, the cartridge may need to be replaced.
